Answers and sources

How Noetix answers from your brain. Numbered sources under every answer, what replaced and disputed mean, and what it does when it doesn't know.

Every answer comes from what your brain holds, and says where.

Sources

An answer marks what it took from each source with a number, like [1]. The sources are listed under the answer. Hover over one to see the passages the answer was given from it. A source from your website or another tool links to the original.

A number proves the answer was given that source. It is always worth opening a source when the answer matters.

Labels on a source

  • as of a date: the source says when it took effect, for example a decision's "Decided" line.
  • replaced: a decision page whose status says a newer decision replaced it. The newer one is brought along.
  • disputed: the brain holds two sources that say different things about this.

When the brain holds two answers to the same question (two prices, two dates, two owners), you get both, with their dates, and which one is newer.

When it doesn't know

Noetix never fills a gap from general knowledge. If your brain has nothing on a question, it says so, and adds the question to Knowledge gaps so your team can see it was asked. See Gaps and catch-up.

Tell us when an answer is wrong

Under every answer there is a thumbs up and a thumbs down. A thumbs down asks what was wrong and, if you choose, includes the question and answer so we can see what happened. A thumbs up sends only the rating.
